I’ve always loved saving money with sales, however, I started couponing because I wanted to save even more than I was saving by simply hunting down the best sale prices!

  • Joanne December 9, 2012, 01:12

I started couponing after flipping through channels and landing on “Extreme Couponing”. I like a challenge so I wanted to see if I could achieve something similar to what I had seen couponers on the show achieve. In my coupon research I found out the show was unrealistic but I am happy with the savings I have been able to achieve thanks to bloggers, youtubers and the great coupon friends I have made. :)

  • Jessica December 9, 2012, 02:49

I started couponing when i went to grad school last year since i moved to another state and lived by myself. At the beginning, i only hoped to save myself a little money, and I didn’t have any idea of what to buy when living alone, so I was trying to buy items on sale stack w/ coupon. Surprisingly I found that couponing not only saved me money as well as my time to think which one to buy. Further, I live besides a Rite Aids, and every Sunday becomes an expecting day to refill my little locker.
But what makes me really happy is that I donate items I couponed to the church I go every Sunday night and people in need find the freebies quite useful too. 

I started to couponing in order to become a one income family while our kids are little. I am proud to say that we have three precious boys: Micah (4 years old), Jonah (18 months), and Noah (4 months). Couponing has afforded me the opportunity to be a stay at home mom and still pay all the bills. Thanks for all you do to help moms like me with limited time who still need to save!

  • becky d December 9, 2012, 02:56

Fixed income initiated it and it turned out to be addictive. I can not believe I use to pay full price for items. I have learned there has to be a fine balance in the couponing world. With the help of your blog I have not only did really great at Rite Aid I have made friends with the employees that work there and they almost seem to be family. Thanks for the opportunity to win a gift card, and to you and yours Merry Christmas!

I started couponing 1998 , I started sending care packages to the philippines , lots of toilettries and shampoos ,colgate etc etc. Before there were a lot of free after rebates esp. walgreens , longs now CVS and riteaid . it saved me tons of money and able to help my family and now my co – workers who has five children or disability.

  • Stacie December 9, 2012, 03:44

I started couponing cause I was in college and quickly realized that there was no way my money would do what I wanted it to do! I had to go to school so I could not work full time, but I needed income of a full time job. What to do??? Hmmmm…..coupons!

  • Ange_NJ December 9, 2012, 04:01

I started couponing because I love to shop, but the bad economy taught me the true value of a dollar. I needed a way to still provide for my family on less of a budget. By using sites like yours, I’ve gotten some great deals which I never would’ve gotten on my own. It’s always a pleasure when you look down at your receipt and see how much money you’ve saved! Thank you!

  • Ruth December 9, 2012, 04:15

I started couponing because I really wanted to be a stay at home mom & knew that meant I needed to stretch my husband’s take home pay.

  • Jennifer December 9, 2012, 04:24

I started couponing a couple years ago while I was in college. My parents were paying a lot of money for me to go to school and I quickly found that I could use coupons to get a lot of essential items for free and help my family out in that sense. I’m now in pharmacy school and really appreciate your blog to help me be able to continue couponing despite my intense schedule. :-)

  • Nicky December 9, 2012, 04:26

I started couponing because I love to get great deals and spend very little out of pocket every time I shop.
That made me realize that I should never really pay full price for anything.

  • Sheila D. December 9, 2012, 04:33

I began coupon just over 3 years ago (should have started sooner!) as a hobby. Now it is a habit!

  • Amy D December 9, 2012, 04:49

Same as most I needed to stretch my dollar when we were going through an economic rough time, thankfully things have improved but i will never stop couponing. When I started a year and half ago I only focused on food with the help of a couple of other local (upstate NY) blog sites. Started with a few coupons in an envelope and evolved into a full binder I never leave the house without! However it was your site that enlightened me to the drug store deals and how to reach gold quickly and how to turn some of those trips into cash so I rarely miss a day of popping onto your site to see what’s new. Bummed that Rite Aid is ending the SCR program but I know if something great comes up you will have it posted!

  • Karina December 9, 2012, 05:29

I started using coupons after going to a friends house and seeing how she had a separate house for all her stockpile it was like beeing at the store
and she kept saying everything was free, she help me but it took me about 3 months before I got it, it has been a big blessing to my family.

  • rln December 9, 2012, 05:50

I started couponing because I had 2 small children in diapers and my husband lost his job. Once I got the hang of it, I was hooked:) Now I won’t pay full price for anything.

  • Marta December 9, 2012, 06:03

I started couponing after seeing the show. I was amazed how you can get free items like cereal or make-up. I have started to learn the rules from different websites. Now I follow few. The accidental saver is one of my favorite.

  • Kitty December 9, 2012, 06:13

I started couponing because, after having my daughter, I quit my career to stay home. We were down to one income. Now…we are expecting our second child! I love being able to get toiletries and some food items on the cheap, and a lot of it is thanks to this page :)

  • Tracy December 9, 2012, 06:15

It started Black Friday last year at CVS…whoa…..I couldn’t believe how easy it was to shop for free….I had volunteered at our local food pantry for years with lack of funding ….I just found a way to help others and not sacrifice for my family….we have so much and now I am able to help others too….

  • miranda December 9, 2012, 06:21

I started to coupon in order to save enough money to be a stay at home mom to our four kids.

  • Stephanie December 9, 2012, 06:25

I started couponing after I moved in with my boy-friend and he lost his job. It was my first time moving out on my own and I quickly realized the value of a dollar and how I never had any money left. I started small, just to get in the swing of things and found out it wasn’t that hard – I just had to wait for the right sale. I’ve been couponing for four years now and even though my boy-friend has a good paying job, I will never go back to paying retail for anything if I can help it. If I purchase it and don’t need the items, I donate them to the local mission that has a shelter in the next city over.

  • Susan December 9, 2012, 06:35

I started couponing once I realized how much money I could save my family and how many deals were out there once you did a little work. It’s so worth it! I have saved so much money in the past few years! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  • Dana December 9, 2012, 07:02

When our family of 5 switched from 2 incomes to 1, I wanted to find a way to contribute to helping our family save money..Using coupons has been an amazing blessing to helping us through.

  • carrie December 9, 2012, 07:04

I have always used coupons but never to the extent where I was getting items for free or making money with them. About a year and a half ago a friend of mine showed me her stockpile and gave me a list of coupon sites she uses. Yours included. Now as a stay at home mom and no longer teaching; couponing is my way of providing for my family. It also helps to have a husband that supports you and who will listen to my scenarios and then walk around the store finding stuff for me.

  • Jennifer December 9, 2012, 07:17

I began staying home when my first child was born. Couponing made that mroe financially feasible.

  • Stacia December 9, 2012, 07:36

I started couponing out of necessity while on maternity leave and i havent stopped yet. It has become a lifestyle change and i’m no longer living paycheck to paycheck!

  • Noelle December 9, 2012, 07:43

I started couponing when my daughter was born. It started with things we regularly bought for her–diapers, formula, etc. Once I saw how easy it was to save with her stuff I started clipping coupons for everything.

  • Barb December 9, 2012, 07:44

I have always tried to save money while my kids were young but when my daughter left for college I tried to help her and her room mates with all their necessities such as shampoos, soaps, food, etc…I was hooked after that. Now I give alot to other people that are in need along with family members. By the way I love your site and Rite Aid!!

  • Amanda December 9, 2012, 07:46

I started couponing for a number of reasons but the main one was because I was pregnant with my first child and we needed some way to stretch our money. Thanks so much for doing this giveaway, Roz!

  • Diana December 9, 2012, 07:50

I started couponing because of my son. His day to day expenditure of diapers, formula threw me off. It was almost everyday we needed one or the other. Prices were so high on anything with new born. I started looking out for alternatives and then came across coupon concept. I started with using $3 pampers coupon and $5 Enfamil coupon mail to home. This pushed me to check out the flyer to add on these coupons with the in-store savings. I expanded this to check other house hold items/medicine and started searching online for ideas and came across lot of couponing websites. They give ready made scenarios, this helped me a lot. Thanks to you for all your hard work you do to help people like us and Thanks to all other coupon websites. Its my fourth year in couponing, it takes lot of hard work and effort from my side but its totally worth it.

  • Sara December 9, 2012, 08:05

Single mom, four kids – need I say more?

  • DENISE PITTMAN-HAMMONDS December 9, 2012, 08:13

I lost my job two years ago and decided it would be a good idea to help supplement things that I really couldn’t afford. It’s has truly been a blessing for me and my family. Thank you for all you do> You’ve really help me!

  • Karen December 9, 2012, 08:29

I started couponing when I realized the trouble our economy is in after listening to people I respect on the radio. I wanted a stockpile for emergencies. I am retired, so I spend WAY too much time on my couponing hobby, but I am able to bless so many people! I buy things that are close to free (darn sales tax) and I always seem to find someone to give the items too. I am sure I spend way more than I would have before couponing, but we are giving and blessing others constantly and it is FUN!!!!

  • Kari December 9, 2012, 08:47

I started couponing because I went to visit my sister-in-law and saw your stockpile. She told me her approximate out of pocket for literally an entire building full of items and I couldn’t believe my eyes. She had me sold, and immediately started teaching me all about it!

  • Gee December 9, 2012, 09:15

I started couponing fall 2010 after I got my first entertainment book, I got it free at Henry’s now Sprouts when I made a newspaper subscription order. The savings in the book were really good, also at the time I was getting coupons to save at fresh and easy. A relative told me to look though coupons.com, I printed some coupons out but I didn’t know how to use them until late 2011 when I found these coupon sites after searching for a coupon for a specific item.

  • Amy R. December 9, 2012, 09:17

My mom was a couponer when I was growing up so I’ve been couponing as long as I can remember. However it was only about three years ago that I started doing it with more purpose. I like the finer things in life and in order to afford them without guilt, I decided to start couponing to save lots of money. I can then use the money I saved to buy the things I want.

  • Kim December 9, 2012, 09:20

I started couponing seriously after my mother passed away last year. I learned how to coupon from my mother. After she passed, I have to take care of my sisters and brother so couponing is the only way to help me out. I’m thankful for couponing cus without it I wouldn’t be able to provide for my family. Thank you.

  • Marc December 9, 2012, 09:26

as a father of three I wanted to eliminate some of the stress that comes with shopping for a family of 5

  • jonathan December 9, 2012, 09:32

i started couponing in 2009 when i lost my job and had to find ways to save money so we wouldnt spend the little bit of money we had coming in from my girlfriend job and now its 2012 and im still unemployed and couponing helps us pay our bills we havent had to pay for anything except for tax on everything we need thanks ms benjaqmins for the giveaway

  • Vera December 9, 2012, 09:40

I started couponing over 30 years ago. The deals were limited then, but I was able to use rebates to get free items. My first year as a teacher, I made about $7,000. If anyone around remembers the early 80s, inflation and interest rates took a bite out of every paycheck. We had a son and soon twins- son and daughter- followed, so couponing was necessary to stretch the very limited budget. I feel as if I have always had some coupons in my purse to use. I am now retired, but the need to save feels as necessary today as it was then.

  • Jules December 9, 2012, 09:43

I have always used a coupon here and there. Once that Extreme Couponing show came out I thought ” why have I not been doing more of this”? I am a single mama to 2 girls struggle is an understatement. Thanks to you and the others who help all us to save and get those deals!!!!!

  • amanda December 9, 2012, 09:54

I started couponing five years ago when my daughter was born. She has had four eye surgeries due to cataracts and is about to have another. My husbands over time was cut and money has been tight., and we had alot of medical bills to pay. I don’t know what we would have done without coupons.

  • adventures/Julie December 9, 2012, 09:56

tough times brought me to couponing. It was just an experiment but I was determined to make it work. As a family of 6 it is so expensive. We almost lost our home and couponing really saved us financially to help us remain in our home. i remember prior to couponing going into Target and spending $60+ every 2 weeks just to get the necessities of deodarent, toothpaste, shampoo, etc for all of us, it was exhausting and draining on our finances. Now my kids love that they can go out to the garage or cubboards and grab anything they need. It really has been a savior to our family and we have been able to pay if forward to other families by sharing our stockpile as well as teaching others to coupon. It truly touches me deeply what couponing has done for our family.

  • Tina December 9, 2012, 10:02

To help stretch my grocery budget. I like buying groceries at the lowest prices I can.

  • Gaby December 9, 2012, 10:05

I started couponing in December 2011 for the reason that we needed to stretch every dollar. I remember my mom going to Target because prices are “lower” and she would spend $50 on 1 of the basic hba. I’ve been able to try so many different products/brands because of this. Before we would look for the cheapest bw, lotion, etc. never realizing how amazing the drugstore deals are.

  • Erum December 9, 2012, 10:11

I started coupong in 2007.I really liked it, so I continued and it’s fum

  • Gayle Butler December 9, 2012, 10:18

My mom used coupons in the fifties so I came to it naturally. But I just used whatever coupons came my way. I did not seek them out. I first became serious when a neighbor introduced me to Moneytalk way back when it was a newpaper type publication. But then I was mostly into refunding until it sort of fell by the wayside. I was online and subscribing to Refund Cenys when the good offers began to die and couponing took over.

  • haleema December 9, 2012, 10:25

i started couponing in 2011 and I love the way, I save money for my family.

  • karman December 9, 2012, 10:39

I started couponing 3 years ago with a few rite aid rewards deals, started reading a few blogs and I was hooked!! Love reading your blog!!

  • leh823 December 9, 2012, 12:06

I started couponing in 2007 when our family got serious about living debt free. We reduced our weekly grocery/supplies/diapers budget from $125 to $50! Very grateful that my friend shared her skills with me!!!

  • Angie December 9, 2012, 12:06

Had a life-changing surgery 3 years ago that resulted in not being able to sleep at night. I would turn to the TV to help me snooze. Stumbled across the Extreme Couponing show at 2am (before it hit primetime). In all my 42 years, I had no idea that this coupon world existed. It was a shot in the arm for me. It took my mind off immediate worries, and allowed me to concentrate my efforts on saving our family/friends money. Initially the savings was the hook, but now I enjoy the camraderie of like-minded folks who coupon. I’ve narrowed down the sites to my two favorite, Accidental Saver being one of my favorite “gets”. Thanks for you hard-work & clear/concise website. Kudos!

  • Katie December 9, 2012, 12:27

I started couponing because of a tight budget while in college. It’s hard to pay for college tuition, books, housing, and food, so couponing is vital! Every dollar counts! (Plus who doesn’t love the occasional free item?)

  • wendy d December 9, 2012, 12:57

Five years ago I went on-line to find the diffence between frugal and thrifty. I was neither frugal nor thrifty! LOL I found myself on a couponing blog and the rest is history. Having been very ill for the last 3 years, couponing has helped me keep my sanity.

  • Goldy Kaur December 9, 2012, 13:02

Started couponing when I was pregnant and I needed to take time off after the baby and realized we couldn’t afford it. :( I’m ready now for the next baby.

  • Jessica December 9, 2012, 13:08

I started couponing in january of this year because I had a baby while going to college & I had so many bills rent, tuition, car, insurance ect. so money was tight. I was working part time and my boyfriend full time and with no baby we were just barely making it so with a baby in the mix I had no idea what to do & somehow thankfully I found out about couponing and ever since then I have not paid for a box of diapers, baby wash or wipes out of my own pocket I have used coupons and store rewards and that alone has saved me so much money.

  • Lee December 9, 2012, 13:42

I started couponing after I was laid off and when I started stumbling on couponing blogs. I remember when I first started, I felt like I had to snag every deal out there. It was definitely very time consuming and at times, emotionally draining. I am not as obsessed as when I first started but I do have the couponing impulse.

  • Rebecca December 9, 2012, 13:58

I started couponing in May 2010 after my first child was born. Found this site (well the msbuildingupdabenjamins) and have been following you ever since! Thanks :)

  • Joni Hansen December 9, 2012, 15:06

Cool giveaway! I started 3 years ago after my oldest was born to save on diapers.

  • Hitomi December 9, 2012, 15:43

I started a year ago coupon.
My husband goes to college. Baby was born a year ago. I must not have to save.
    Coupon was a great way.
I continue to love this blog in the future.

  • Katie December 9, 2012, 15:51

I started couponing when I saw my older sister getting amazing deals on name-brand shampoo, razors, feminine products and more! I couldn’t believe it! My parents have been forking out money for those things for years! So I decided to pick up couponing as a hobby and ever since then its consumed my life and way of thinking. I never buy ANYTHING full-price now. Couponing has taught me the rewards I can get by being frugal with my money and this year when I go to college I will have a fully-stocked dorm room with all the essentials I will need! Over half of our society is in debt, and I do NOT want to start off my life on a bad foot like that! :)

  • Sonata December 9, 2012, 16:13

I started couponing because I am cheap. Enough said. Lol.

I stumbled upon couponing by googling ways to save money in april 2010. I don’t know how ever made it before without couponing! I’m a single parent of two boys. I wish I had known about couponing sooner, it would have helped me out so much!

  • Dan D. December 9, 2012, 22:02

Like others on here, I started couponing to save money. It quickly turned into a little game to see how much I could get for free… That was 2 years ago… now I use my couponing skills to get free/cheap items to donate to the local shelters (both animals and human) and other misc. food drives/ helping the community etc.

  • Claudia December 9, 2012, 22:23

I started couponing because I learned from my mom that I could save money.

  • Elena December 9, 2012, 23:50

I started couponng in 2007, as soon as I discovered the coupon existence. I immigrated from Russia where we had no idea what coupons and sales are. That was WOW! Since then I am improving my techniques and do it mainly for fun. I prefer difficult scenarios to easy ones.

  • JustD December 10, 2012, 01:13

I started in August 2011… and I kick myself in the butt for waiting so long to start. Thinking about ALL the money my husband and I spent for 10+ years just about kills me. I started because I had a “BONUS” 3rd child and I was no longer in the position to work full time.

  • Christie shock December 10, 2012, 01:56

I started couponing about 5 years ago. I figured I needed to place my addicting habit somewhere. Cpuponing is way better than gambling or drugs! Crack is whack!!!

Also started couponing to pass time while waiting for hubby in chemo treatments (4 yrs ago, he is doing great.) Just the clipping, sorting & filing calmed my nerves.

  • Didi December 10, 2012, 05:48

I started couponing 3 years ago to save money for my family. I’ve always been a wise shopper, but prices kept escalating (they still are), and I knew I had to find a way to be able to make ends meet.
Since I started to coupon, the way I have been able to change my family’s and extended families lifestyle is just amazing. To this day, I am thrilled to be able to purchase at a very good price and have enough to share!

  • Becky A December 10, 2012, 06:11

  • Kari December 10, 2012, 07:47

In addition to starting to coupon simply because I was in awe of my sister in laws stock pile- I started to coupon for ME! I’ve always loved shopping, I’ve always loved being a smart shopper and shopping sales and clearances, and have two small children at home not only did I need to find ways to save money but I also needed to find a hobby so that I could have ME time. Couponing has been perfect- because for a couple hours each week I get to have some time for me, go shopping, and save money for my family!

  • Stephanie B December 10, 2012, 08:55

I started couponing two and a half years ago. (I don’t see my post from yesterday, I don’t think it took). I sort of stumbled upon couponing. I was googling ways to save money and found a site that was dedicated to couponing. I had no help at all when I was “learning.” I kept wondering why my prices never matched what she was posting on her site until I found out she was blogging from New Hampshire!!! There is a big difference in the cost of living in comparison to California! That is when I started looking for bloggers from California and I found your site! I was also looking for someone who shopped at Rite Aid. Thanks for your posts!

I started couponing as an accident because I was looking at a Walgreens Ad an saw free after rewards an I had no idea what that meant and I google it an came across thekrazycouponlady.com website, stayed up reading all about beginers and the next day I went couponing and have not stop since last year.
    ps
Thank you for your posts, I check your site every day :)

  • elizabeth December 10, 2012, 09:11

I had more time than money so started couponing to save some $$. I got better at it with time but still have a hard time finding decent food deals for stuff we eat. Thanks for what you do!

  • JHollyhock (aka Jennifer H.) December 10, 2012, 09:29

I started couponing one year ago. We started our own business almost 4 years ago and we were running out of money. I needed to find a way to stretch our very limited resources.

  • Stephanie December 10, 2012, 09:29

I just recently had my third child in July, and my husband and I decided that it would be better if I stayed at home instead of continued to work because of the cost of daycare. So I quit my job of 8 years and am now a stay at home mom. With only one income for 5 of us I decided i would give couponing a try. Needless to say I now have a good size stockplile and counting! I never leave the house without my coupons. Thank you for all your posts and helpng my family save money!

  • Amanda December 10, 2012, 11:23

Day #2 (second entry) – Another reason that I started couponing was because my best friend had died suddenly at the age of 23 and I guess I was in shock. I needed something to preoccupy my mind so I spent late nights researching how to get freebies and other free stuff which brought me to couponing!

  • Jessica December 10, 2012, 11:45

Day 2 entry another reason why I started couponing was because I needed a new hobby, I just recently had a baby and all of my friends (they have no babies) started disappearing and we hung out less and less so I needed something to do and this was great since it was helpful for my new family as well.

  • Sara December 10, 2012, 12:56

I was surprised by the high cost of little things – shampoo, toothpaste, laundry soap – and learned that these items had significant coupons added to drugstore deals.

  • yvonne green December 10, 2012, 13:39

i started couponing because we would not be able to have what we do with out it.

  • Errica December 10, 2012, 14:16

i started couponing after watching friends and family members save money

  • Katie December 10, 2012, 14:22

Day #2 – I started couponing to save money on items that I need (and sometimes don’t need) around the house. I always send things I buy through couponing overseas to relatives on the other side of the world!

  • Vera December 10, 2012, 14:36

2nd entry I have never had two dimes to rub together, so couponing was a natural way to make money. Rather than saving money, I like to think of the coupons as money earned from a part-time job.

  • Derrell D December 10, 2012, 14:46

I started to save money, so I can buy me an house.

  • Elena December 10, 2012, 14:50

I coupon because I need to help my parents in Russia. I am sending big parcels there of everything that I get here for free. Too bad there are no coupons to lower shipping fees! sending 20 lb costs me about $120!

  • Deb December 10, 2012, 15:53

I keep couponing because I save so much and its fun!

  • wendy d December 10, 2012, 16:31

I coupon to keep my brain engaged.

  • Diana December 10, 2012, 17:01

I am addicted to savings and couponing. I have got so much stockpile that I have searched a Shelterless Home and started donating. I keep a chart of what they are looking for and buy those always and for which there are no coupons/deals, I will buy them when I have UPs expiring and to cover up overage. Coupons helps me to help myself and also other needs people.

  • felicia December 10, 2012, 17:31

I started couponing to save money, and extend our budget. It seemed I could NOT stick to a grocery budget, until I started couponing. It was kind of a necessity at the time, I really needed to find a way to cut back anywhere possible. Now with the cost of groceries increasing, it is soo helpful!

  • Nicky December 10, 2012, 17:42

Day 2 entey, another reason that I started couponing is after watched TLC’s extreme couponing show. In my mind says, if she/he can do it, why not me. If there is a way to keep my money in my pocket, I will do it.

  • Chris December 10, 2012, 17:57

I started couponing because I was tired of dropping $100 at Walmart for about 1/2 a cart load. It was ridiculous.

  • Jen December 10, 2012, 17:58

To save money and help my family out during my college years.

  • Geri December 10, 2012, 18:47

I started doing it more than ever while I was unemployed and then just kept doing it!

  • Karen December 10, 2012, 19:06

Day 2 – Another thing that peaked my couriosity about couponing was reading a blog by PreparednessPro about how she saved by getting FREE toothpaste, deodorant and other things!! I could not believe it, so I learned all about it from blogs like this one!! I now have a stockpile! It is fun to have a local blogger like you in San Diego!! We are in north inland county. Thank you!!!

  • Hitomi December 10, 2012, 19:15

I started a year ago coupon. My husband goes to college. Baby was born a year ago. I must not have to save.Coupon was a great way.I continue to love this blog in the future:)

  • adventures/Julie December 10, 2012, 19:28

Day 2 – I started couponing after seeing numerous sites that posted pics of peoples deals they were getting. I soo needed to do that….and I did!!

  • Stephanie December 10, 2012, 19:29

I also got into couponing to help others. Growing up, my parents divorced and things were rough for a single mom to provide for her two kids. She did an amazing job but now that I’m older I realize how much she had to sacrifice to provide for us. Now that I can purchase items for cheap I am able to donate thousands per year to less fortunate people, someone who I used to be.

  • Gayle Butler December 10, 2012, 19:42

I coupon for the thrill of the hunt.

  • Katie December 10, 2012, 19:46

I started coupling because I love the thrill I get! I get so excited knowing I got such an amazing deals on products I use or products I would have never purchased because of the ridiculous retail price.

  • William foster December 10, 2012, 19:46

I started 4her years ago, after my wife left me with 4 kids to feed and not enough money coming in to keep up with it all. Couponing gives you more food to eat for the same budget dollers. Thanks again ms benjamins, I made gold this year with your help !!

    • admin December 10, 2012, 19:57

      Yeah, you made Gold!!!!!!!! :)

  • Brooke December 10, 2012, 19:55

I started couponing 3 years ago because I had too. I would sometimes go with out food for myself and kids and found that couponing allowed us to finally eat! And we did not have to rely on food baskets or help from family. I am now working full time and still save whenever I can. I really rely on your blog to help get the best bang for my buck. Thank you for all that you do.

  • Tina December 10, 2012, 20:12

Getting good deals helps me stock up and not have to pay full price

  • Kim December 10, 2012, 20:30

Day 2 entry- another reason why I started couponing was to save some money to repay student loans that I struggle to pay back. It’s tough sometimes even with couponing but without it I wouldn’t be able to put food on the table for my family.

  • Jules December 10, 2012, 20:30

Day2~ I first started out with CVS in 2011.. Did great… Learned I would never have to pay $$ for personal care items.. Kind of felt stupid as I could have been doing this a long time ago!!!! My 2012 New Years goal was to do more grocery couponing… Have done good… Then met a long time coupon clipper who would text me deals and turned me on to Rite Aid and your site.. I would say in less then 7 months thanks very much to YOU I have just made GOLD STATUS!!! woooo hoooo! THANK YOU sista!!!!!!!

    • admin December 10, 2012, 21:43

      LOL!!!!!!!!!

  • zhao December 10, 2012, 21:45

    To save money:)

  • Kim December 10, 2012, 22:17

I started couponing after finding out how expensive diapers were after I had my first baby!

  • JustD December 11, 2012, 00:08

Day 3. I started in August 2011… and I kick myself in the butt for waiting so long to start. Thinking about ALL the money my husband and I spent for 10+ years just about kills me. I started because I had a “BONUS” 3rd child and I was no longer in the position to work full time.

  • tina December 11, 2012, 01:08

As a fairly recent immigrant, and coming from a country with much lower standard of living, I was converting the prices here in another currency and everything seemed so expensive. I am surprised that not all people use coupons. Thanks to your blog I’ve saved so much at Rite Aid!

  • Christie shock December 11, 2012, 02:34

My mother always told me I was no good while I was growing up! But I can rock this coupon thing! I love to show her my stockpile! She loves taking all my free things! Free is good!

  • Debbie B December 11, 2012, 04:03

I love to shop and when couponing you get to shop. Yeah me!! Love your blog too!!

  • Diana December 11, 2012, 05:09

Day 3 – Another reason why I started couponing was to bring down the expenditure. We were spending so much on those day-to-day usable things and one year it was so much that me and hubby pulled up all our credit card statements to see where the money was actually going and it was a shocker..it was mainly to Walmart/Costco. I wanted to do something to bring this down so tat we could concentrate on something else. Now I have gotten to a stage where I take the break when I think too much is going on and I know how to come back right into the world of couponing.

  • Patti December 11, 2012, 06:48

#3 ~ I have always liked hobbies that created something to use. Couponing is my latest hobby. I get all kinds of things that we use & save $’s to boot!!!

  • Denise December 11, 2012, 06:58

To keep saving money to go to Disney!

  • Amanda December 11, 2012, 07:12

Day #3 (3rd entry) – The third reason why I started couponing was because that year (2008) I had just gotten married and moved out of state to be with my husband. I had NO ONE other than my husband and he had a full time job so I was stuck at home bored and lonely. Couponing gave me a way to connect with others and kept me busy.

  • Dana December 11, 2012, 07:12

To help save money in our 1 income household.

  • wendy d December 11, 2012, 07:33

    #3 to save money

  • Marc December 11, 2012, 08:14

    to save money

  • Sara December 11, 2012, 08:51

I honestly think I am finding that couponing is fun. And who couldn’t use a little more fun? Also, the clerks I tend to deal with know and like me. I wouldn’t know them otherwise-and they are nice folks.

  • nis December 11, 2012, 08:56

my mom and grandmother would use coupons when i was young mostly on food, i started really all out couponing about three years ago, i wish my grandmother was here to see her granddaughter saving all this money she would be thrilled.

  • Kate December 11, 2012, 10:13

I started couponing when I moved to a new area, and the local grocery stores had some really great coupon promotions like “super doubles” and “triple coupons”.

  • Katie December 11, 2012, 11:11

Day 3 – I started couponing to save money while getting things I need. Every dollar counts when it comes to paying for college tuition and books! Whenever I’d go errand shopping with friends in school, I’d gape at them in shock when a friend would buy a box of tampons for $9 NOT on SALE and WITHOUT a COUPON when I could easily score the same thing for $3 when it’s on sale and with a coupon or two. A little saving goes a long way!

  • susan December 11, 2012, 11:17

Having kids is college is a great reason to start couponing! Plus, it’s how I found your awesome website!

  • Babs December 11, 2012, 11:25

I would buy only generic 2 save money and stay on budget but my friend showed me how to pay even less by couponing. Now I get the newest n latest things paying less than by getting generic and I am under budget and able to donate to my church helping others.

  • Vera December 11, 2012, 11:48

I really enjoy couponing, so I suppose I started as a hobby.

  • Jessica (@queen of saving green) December 11, 2012, 11:51

day2 entry: I also started couponing more than before, because my boyfriend Jonathan lost his job, and we are living on my single income, so getting our necessities for free helps.

  • JHollyhock (aka Jennifer H.) December 11, 2012, 12:48

We have six children and a very small income so whatever I can do to save money and even get cheap or free treats for the children is wonderful.

  • Jessica December 11, 2012, 13:19

Day #3 Another reason why I started couponing is my boyfriend son and I are living on one income which is my boyfriends and I’m a full time college student and with Christmas coming up money is even more tight then my sons birthday is a week after Christmas so money will be even more tight so any money saved at this time is so helpful.

  • Katie December 11, 2012, 13:46

I started couponing so I could get name-brand products for little to no cost. My parents also love that I save them money on household items!

  • Kim December 11, 2012, 14:07

I stumbled upon hip2save and never looked back!

  • Stephanie December 11, 2012, 15:50

I started couponing to help with the little bit of OCD I have about certain things. Keeping all my coupons together and making a shopping list with everything mapped out and the transaction planned is such a rush for me.

  • Stephanie B December 11, 2012, 16:22

Couponing has really helped me to resist purchasing things at full price!! I’ve been couponing for two years and the other day I saw a purse I really wanted badly! I went ahead and passed on purchasing the purse but signed up for their daily 12 days of Christmas texts, I waited patiently hoping they would have a sale to pair my purchase with and sure enough they did! The purse was originally $49.99 and I end up paying $15! I would have never done this prior to couponing!

  • Melissa December 11, 2012, 16:51

I STARTED couponing because with two babies in diapers, I couldn’t stand the thought of spending money on garbage– face it, diapers are only used for ONE thing!

I CONTINUE to coupon because it has allowed me to donate thousands of dollars worth of products to 11 organizations around the city & save money to send my babies to college!

  • Jenny W. December 11, 2012, 17:14

I started couponing to help buffer the costs of things we use everyday, since our family now only has 1 income.

  • p. December 11, 2012, 17:22

I’ve always loved saving money with sales, however, I started couponing because I wanted to save even more than I was saving by simply hunting down the best sale prices!

  • kaman December 11, 2012, 17:35

    I coupon for the thrill

  • mary b December 11, 2012, 17:51

to have money for other things.

  • jonathan December 11, 2012, 18:10

i coupon because its fun to see how much you can save

  • Stacia Stafford December 11, 2012, 18:31

I started while on Maternity leave and need to pinch the pennies and it stuck!

  • Elena December 11, 2012, 18:44

I love math and pay attention to little details, that is why I love couponing.

    • Karen December 11, 2012, 21:53

Day 3 – Wish I loved math and was good at paying attention to details, I am not. But I can still do really well couponing. I mess us sometimes, but the thrill of getting a good deal is my drug!!!!

  • Rebecca December 11, 2012, 19:13

Love to save money — that’s why I coupon!

  • Emily December 11, 2012, 19:24

I started a year ago coupon. My husband goes to college. Baby was born a year ago. I must not have to save.Coupon was a great way.I love coupon:)

  • Deb December 11, 2012, 19:34

I love getting paid to shop using coupons! It doesn’t happen too often but it’s quite the thrill when it does.

  • Kim December 11, 2012, 20:35

Day 3 – Third reason why I started couponing because I want to teach my brother and sisters how to save money on practically anything. They used to think it’s a waste of time couponing just to save 40 cents now they know better. :)

  • Christine December 11, 2012, 20:40

I have five kids (four of which are boys!), so I needed to find a way to cut back on grocery and household item expenses. :-)

  • Jennifer December 11, 2012, 20:54

I was planning to go back to work after I had my first son (turned 2 12/06), but then I fell in love with him and 3 months later was also pregnant with his little brother. I decided to stay home, which cut our income in half! I was actually making a little more than my husband too. So now we have double the people on half the income we were used to. I consider couponing working at home because sometimes it does involve a lot of work, stress, and time, but I definitely “save” enough to equate it to just plain going to work and not watching out for our money (like we used to). I save in every way I can come up with, which makes my husband’s work worth a lot more too.

  • Christie shock December 12, 2012, 02:08

After reading your posts on all the “fun, free ” stuff you get your boy Kevin, I have started doing the same thing for my boy. It is sooo hard being a single mother, but when you can get a can of Axe cologne (for free) that is the BOMB! Thanks Sista Sledge! Keep passing on the deals!

  • tina December 12, 2012, 03:18

Couponing saves me money, but it could also be very time consuming. Thanks to your blog and the deals you highligh, I save time and money :)

  • Denise December 12, 2012, 04:44

Wanted to save more money for my family and so I could be a stay at home mom for my 3 boys.

  • Rebecca December 12, 2012, 06:35

I started couponing for cheap diapers and it went from there! Love couponing for everything now!

  • Angie December 12, 2012, 07:19

2-3 years ago the Extreme Couponing show first opened my eyes…I LOVED the first initial shows. But 3 years later, I can’t STAND it! Does anyone else feel the same way as I do? Thankful for the initial show because it introduced the world of couponing, but now wish it would just go away? :)

  • Dana December 12, 2012, 07:30

To save and use money wisely.

  • Sara December 12, 2012, 07:57

I was also one of those who probably began couponing with diaper coupons.

  • Stephanie B December 12, 2012, 08:22

Another reason I started couponing… I have a two football players at home. One of my sons is a lineman, 6′ 4″ about 295 lbs. He would eat me out of house and home if I didn’t coupon!

  • JHollyhock (aka Jennifer H.) December 12, 2012, 08:48

I now find that I really enjoy couponing. It has become not only a way to save money, but a way to have fun.

  • Amanda December 12, 2012, 08:49

Day #4 (4th entry) – The final reason that I started couponing was because my son was on formula and we couldn’t afford it. I had remembered my sister getting formula checks in the mail for her daughter so I started looking for them and then stumbled upon a whole new world :)

  • Patti December 12, 2012, 08:58

    #4 ~ I coupon because it’s fun!

  • Nicole Brady December 12, 2012, 10:09

My sister got me interested in coupons 3 years ago, and I think it is such a fun and useful hobby.

  • Katie December 12, 2012, 11:32

Day 4 – Couponing has actually kind of turned into an obsession of mine. I love scoring great deals and free stuff!

  • Jessica December 12, 2012, 11:49

Day 4 I started couponing because I just could not afford to buy all the household essentials after moving out on my own for the first time. The simplest things add up so fast.

  • Errica December 12, 2012, 13:06

I started couponing because I wanted to get in on the good deals and freebies that my friends were getting

  • Elena December 12, 2012, 13:45

I am couponing because I cannot find a suitable job here, in a little US town. I think I get much more out of couponing than I would if I work in a store.

  • karen December 12, 2012, 13:52

i started couponing due to my addiction for makeup..then i realized how much i could save on other things..then the more i couponed the more i realized i could extend it to saving beyond me ..but for my family and friends! been loving it ever since!

  • Amy R. December 12, 2012, 13:59

Couponing is a good hobby for me. I get to sharpen my math skills, go shopping, and get great things for a good price!

  • Vera December 12, 2012, 14:09

I started and continue couponing to be able to help others without breaking my bank.

  • Debbie B December 12, 2012, 14:22

  • Diana December 12, 2012, 18:07

Day 4 – My couponing is going right on track and Thanks to you and bloggers like you who have made our life easier and also made us earn/save some more money. I cant imagine paying full price for anything.

  • sam spade December 12, 2012, 18:42

Why did I start? Short and sweet: desperation and boredom!

Desperation: financial and medical disaster(s) forced me to look for ways to cut costs.
Boredom: with time on my hands, stumbled upon reruns of “extreme couponing” on the internet. Got intrigued. Further investigation led me to youtube postings by couponers. Learned and applied, and doing great at it!
Definitely integrated into my lifestyle now, no turning back! :)

  • Kim December 12, 2012, 20:08

Day #4 entry- Final reason why I started couponing because it’s actually fun saving money. I love reading different coupon blogs about how people save money. It’s very exciting and helpful for me. one of my new favorite is your site. Thank you for this helpful site and helping all of us save. Please keep it up:) whoever wins the giveaway is gonna be very blessed this Christmas. Goodluck everyone!

Well, I started couponing because I need to save money to help out my parents financially. I figured what I was saving in couponing, I can then help my parents with that, and that is exactly what I did. Couponing has help me save money for my household, enabled me to help my parents financially, and help others has well. Counponing really goes a long way : -)
