Is Walgreens changing it’s RR policy?

I guess Walgreens is changing it’s RR policy…at least in the San Diego area. Today, I was all organized with mfg coupons, WAGS coupons and RR (Register Rewards) in hand. I had 16 items and 10 mfg coupons/WAGS coupons and two RR’s. I let the cashier ring up all my items and then hand the cashier my various coupons and RR’s. The cashier get to the coupons and sees that I have a $5RR and a $4RR and she states that I can only use ONE RR per transaction. Now, she wasn’t hating b/c I had picked up the wrong Trident gum (3/$2) and I had a coupon 3/$1 so she offered to get the Trident that was on sale for me.

But I think it sucks that Walgreens is no longer taking multiple RR’s per transaction…at least that’s my personal experience at two different Walgreens here in San Diego – 32nd and 805 and the Midway Walgreens. I like shopping at Walgreens b/c of the friendly staff and the bargains.

My Walgreens finds today:

  • Posture D Calcium (for mom) $8.99 get $9RR
  • Tropican OJ $2.99 get $1 RR
  • Colgate Total tooth paste $2.49 get $1.50 RR
  • Bayer Quick release Crystals $2.49 get $2.50RR
  • Zantac 150 $7.99 get $2 RR

Summary:

I bought $24.95 plus tax and I got $16 in RR’s I spent a $5 RR so I had $3.95 out of pocket plus tax.

I now have $34 in RR’s all together. It looks like I will definitely have to do multiple transactions in one store visit to get the biggest bang for my buck.

Not bad and I only bought items that I used…it’s all about savings money and building up the Benjamins!
