I almost forgot about the FREE Rice-A-Roni OR Pasta Roni until about 6 p.m. on Sunday and I made a mad dash to Albertsons.

On the windows of the store, they had signage up that their last day as Albertson would be on Tuesday (3/17) and on Thursday (3/19) they would be reopen as Haagen Markets.

I remember when Albertsons was in Northern California and then they completed got out of the NorCal market but it was nice to find them in Southern California.

When I first got into couponing, grocery stores in California were still doubling and even tripling coupons and Albertsons was considered a hot grocery store.

Those days have been long gone.

Albertsons basically nailed it’s own coffin when they went to the everyday low prices and got rid of it’s loyalty card.

R.I.P. Albertsons.

Our alberstons’s has already changed to Haggens’ (few weeks ago). Some of the prices are insane but it’s a place I travel by often so maybe for loss leaders

Example ~ corned beef (raw) $7.99/#; 2# strawberries (not organics) $8

OMG, $8 for strawberries…that is absolute craziness.

Wait, and not organic? I really hope those prices don’t last! I think I’d have to pass even on the loss leaders just on principle.

Yeah, crazy. Many of the prices I have seen seem very high. They sent us some good value coupons so that is the only reason I have gone in. Not sure these kind of prices will fly in our town.

Tina, it’s odd, we got an “Albertsons” ad thru 3/24 no language about Haagens. I will probably stop by there on Saturday to check it out.
