My Trip to Rite Aid…

Accccck, I gotta go to work in the morning.  I could have gone into work today but there something about having a Friday off that I love.  I wanted to finish off the Skin Care SCR, it ends on 7/24 for us in Southern Calif.  After the weather cooled down, I think it got 82 degrees where I live, I drove over to Rite Aid.

Guess what, I found the Colonaid but I’ll be getting that tomorrow…since that will be an $5 money maker using the $5/$20.

Anyways, here are my gets at Rite Aid:

Bought 1 Motrin PM 20ct $4.79 (retail price $5.99)
Bought 1 Zegerid 14ct $10 (retail price $12.99)
Bought 1 Rite Aid Brand Chocolate Covered Raisins $.79
Bought 1 Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pur Daily Exfoliating Gel Cleanser $5.03
Bought 1 Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Microbead Cream Scrub Oil-Free $5.03

Total = $25.64

Used -$3 Motrin PM (RP 4/18)
Used -$3 In-Ad Motrin PM Q
Used -$4 Zegerid (SS 6/20)
Used -$3 In-Ad Zegerid Q
Used -$5 In-Ad Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pur Q
Used -$1 Garnier (RP 7/11)
Used -$1/$10 Pain Relief CRT
Used -$7 in +Up Rewards

Total after coupons and +Up Rewards used = -$1.36 OOP w/tax .73 cents

SCR Earned = $25 + $5 Skin Care SCR

+Up Rewards Earned = $12 ($7 Zegerid, $2 Motrin, $3 Garnier)

Profit = $4.27

Notes:  Man, oh man, were my calcs off for this transaction.  I had planned on using (2) $5 Garnier In-Ad Qs but I guess the +Up Rewards ate into the taxes?  I always hand the +Up Rewards FIRST after the $5/$20 which I didn’t use for this transaction since I was trying burn some +Ups.  Thanks goodness, I grabbed the chocolate raisins.  I love the +Ups b/c I was able to flip a $5 and $2 for $12 in +Ups.

I found out from the cashier that she had grabbed the last of the Garnier Facial Wipes so I substituted the Garnier Scrub & Cleanser.  Just make sure that if you are in the same situation that it says “Nutri-Pure” so you can get the +Up.

    Thanks for the tips. After my UP debacle and loss (still waiting for the gift card to replace) I always wait to see the total after coupons and then give the +UP like it's a payment. That way too, if I get grief for using more than one, I try to explain that they are not coupons and like gift cards – forms of payment.

    It's best to hand Ups Rewards then CRTs then MFQs.

    I heard that RA is suppose to have an FAQ out by August. We will see.

    CRTs = ? coupons?

    If you hand UPs first, they you may not be able to use your coupons. I consider UPs like payments/gift card/cash and not at all like coupons, so I used them very last now.

    so sad about the limits 🙁 i did one transaction friday with most of the UP deals and today i tried same transaction and no UPs printed! Ugh rite aid really messed up by no saying anything!! This weeks ad does not even have the Limit one like they did in the last few weeks. I talk to a manager and he said how are we going to know if the UPs didnt print or the costumer reached limit for deal like at CVS it prints in your receipt everyday during the sale week. Ugh im sending their PR an email cause he told me to email him if i had ANY problems. I know everything its free but their ad says im supposed to get something back and if im not getting them i will like to know why!!

    PS. I always hand my UPs first because most of Rite Aid coupons will cover tax and i dont want the UPs to count as redeem. If i see my total going too low i just ad candy bars or something else but usually i plan my transaction to the tax so i always know if i need a filler which is always food for the no tax thing heheheh

    thanks for keeping your blog updated I LOVE IT!!

    DMC, the CRT's are the $1/$10 that prints at the bottom of your receipt. I think last week we got $1/$10 Pain Relief and $1/$10 Hair Care…these are also considered Wellness coupons.

    Maria, the whole Ups Rewards is so fluid and kinda changes with the wind.

    RA re-programmed their registers on Friday around 2pm our time. I'm not sure if it is a glitch or they have truly programmed their registers to limit the Ups Rewards.

    Yep, I do exactly like you do and hand over the Ups Rewards first so that they show as "already redeemed".

    I'm trying to keep on top of the Ups Rewards thing and putting out info as soon as I hear about it.

    did you read about the person that bought 4 crest and got 4 $1.50 UPs in one transaction?? OMG!!!

  • Ms Benjamins July 18, 2010, 13:06

    Maria, I did see were a person got (4) $1.50 Ups for the toothbrushes in a single transaction.

    I think that was pure luck. But we'll see if anyone else can do it.
