My Trip to Rite Aid…

Yesterday, I was trying to organize my coupon inserts.  They were a mess!  However, I have so many inserts that I now need some kinda file container to put them to keep them organized.  I remember that Rite Aid has an $5 SCR on a file tote.  Perfect.

I came home from CVS and I cut out some coupons and headed to Rite Aid.  It took me a while to find the “Gracious File Tote on Wheels” but I found it…up front near a seasonal Back-to-School aisle.  But there was no price tagged for it so I figured it was about $9.99…boy was I ever wrong so my OOP was a bit higher than I was expecting.

Here are my gets at Rite Aid:

Bought 1 Gracious File Tote on Wheels $11.59 (after my discount!)
Bought 1 Viva Paper Towels 8ct $6.99
Bought 1 Zegerid 14ct $10

Total = $28.58

Used -$5/$20
Used -$1 Viva July Adperk Q
Used -$4 Zegerid (SS 6/20)
Used -$3 Zegerid In-Ad Q
Used -$9 in +Up Rewards

Total = $6.58

SCRs Earned = $5 (I didn’t qualify for this SCR since you have to buy 2…thanks, Felicia!)

+Ups Earned = $8 ($1 Viva, $7 Zegerid)

MIR Earned = $6.58 Zegerid MIR (in the 6/20 SS)

Cost = $1.40

Notes:  I had $22 worth of coupons so I didn’t think I would need to print out $3 Zegerid Adperk Q.  Yep, I’m gonna do another Zegerid MIR and use my PO Box address.  Good grief, I had no idea that those file totes cost so much.  The regular retail price of the file tote is $14.49 and with my 20% discount it came to $11.59.  But it’s all good in the hood with the $5 SCR and the $6.58 MIR.

I forgot to get some newspapers, today, so I’ll head over Rite Aid in a bit to get newspapers.  There was nothing real exciting in today’s inserts that why I kinda put off buying them this morning.

    On the high price of that file tote… Rite Aid prices are ALWAYS higher than other stores. ALWAYS. The Nature Made Sleep is $15.99 in Rite Aid, but $12.99 in CVS. This is why you need all the extra coupons with Rite Aid – to even the prices out. LOL! If it wasn't for the Video Value and In-Ad deals and SCRs and +UPs, I would NEVER shop in Rite Aid. Never ever. There stores are not all that and the cashiers almost always give me grief for using coupons. I never get that at any other stores… ever.

    I almost fell over when I had the cashier do a price check for me on the file tote! You are right about the prices being high at RA. I guess it's the reason that they are offering multiple incentitves to get you into the store, in hopes that you find something else to buy while you are in the store, thereby, boosting their sales.

    I probably would have bought the file tote at Office Depot or Staples if there had not been an SCR associated with the purchase.

    MsBenjamins, when using your PO Box mailing address to do another mail in rebate, do you use the same name or do you use a different name?

    Just an FYI – I think you have to buy 2 of the totes to get the scr right?

  • Ms Benjamins July 20, 2010, 00:11

    Jessica, I use my full name.

    Felicia, darn…you are right. You do have to buy 2 of them. I misread the SCR. I'll correct the post.

    Thanks for pointing it out, otherwise, I would be expecting the SCR to show up! LOL
