My Trip to Vons (Safeway)

11I realize that the Mastercard deal that I posted about earlier may not be for everyone but there may be some of you that is interested in this deal.  If you are wondering what the heck am I going to do with a $200 Mastercard Gift Card?  Keep in mind that I could pay a bill with the giftcard – car payment (if I had one), car insurance (if I had a monthly bill), cable, utilities, etc. you get the picture.

On my trip to Vons, I bought other items for New Year’s Eve including the gift card.  I paid for everything with my debit card, although, the cashier offered the option of paying with a credit card.  For those local in San Diego, I went to the Vons on Adams St in North Park.

Here is my get at Vons:

Bought (1) $200 Mastercard Variable Gift Card + $5.95 Activation Fee $205.95
Used -$30 JUST4U Mastercard eCoupon

Total after coupon used = $175.95

Initially, I thought I could only buy (1) $100 gift card but the limit is actually 2.  The JUST4U coupon adjusted accordingly based on the amount.  I bought the variable gift card b/c there’s only one activation fee.

Oh I was curious about this but then I remembered the activation fees, was wondering if it would be a good deal or not. Usually I like Albertson’s buy $100 in gift cards, get $20 in groceries deals.

Albertsons had the spend $100 get $20 like a couple of weeks ago. I don’t write about Albertsons too much bc depending upon what state you live in, Albertsons is owned by a different group. I think the Albertsons that operating in SoCal, also operate in NV and AZ. I believe that there 5 or 6 different groups that own Albertsons.

I think it’s a pretty good deal, I made almost $25 for doing nothing! 🙂
