Plotting and Planning

Happy Halloween!!!  Don’t forget to pick up your FREE Snickers Bar (up to $1.50)!!!

I know that some of y’all thought I was being overly dramatic about requesting your funds from the rebates each month because you never know when a company is going to cease to exist but yesterday the shoe dropped and Savingstar announced it’s own demise.

What’s so interesting to me about this mess is that Quotient Technology (the owners of coupons.com) Acquired Savingstar, 24 months, ago, to cannibalize the company just to kill off.  You are thinking to yourself “what did Savingstar have that coupons.com wanted?”  Savingstar had a customer base, as well as, contracts clients with big names, i.e., P&G, Unilever, etc.

I suspect that Checkout 51 will be the next to fall as the company was recently acquired by a Private Equity Firm.

On Sunday, we will get Smart Source, Retail Me Not and Unilever coupon inserts inside the newspapers.  Always, always, always check the inside of the newspapers to ensure that they have the inserts because it is absolutely frustrating when you take the time to buy the newspapers specifically for the coupon inserts and they are nowhere to be found when you get home.

If you didn’t have a chance to stop by CVS, this week, go to your CVS account and print or send to card your CVS coupons.

It’s Saturday and Halloween…enjoy your day!

I was so sorry to see that coupons. com acquired Saving Star. Saving Star was my first rebate app and liked that once you activate an offer it didn’t disappear like on Ibotta or Checkout 51. We are loosing the variety of options for cash back.

Tina, I absolutely LOVED Savingstar prior to them being acquired and I am sorry to see them go. I think Savingstar was my first rebate app, too. 🙁
