Michelle’s Frugal Livin posted a video about how she is feeling overwhelmed with the Rebate App and constantly having to scan receipts especially with latest software updates with Ibotta and Checkout 51.  The video is only 5 minutes and she makes some excellent points, you click on the picture to watch the video.

My favorite rebate app is Savingstar because I mostly shop at CVS and Rite Aid and I do not need to scan my receipt.  Savingstar is not perfect but it is the easiest almost no brainer rebate to use and save money.

The latest Ibotta software update is a pure disaster, I absolutely cannot stand the new look and feel of the Ibotta app. I understand that they are trying to expand into online shopping rebates but the Rebates Apps risk alienating their current customers by doing so.

Remember, last year, when Savingstar was trying to expand their footprint by offering online shopping rebates and it’s marketing was not invasive like Ibotta’s current campaign.  The whole redesign of the Ibotta app is just a hot mess.  Like why are the Amazon rebates, the first thing I see when I open the Ibotta app?  Uggghhhhhhhhh!!!

Checkout 51’s app kept constantly refreshing itself as I was looking for new rebate offers on Thursday and I hate when I do want to submit a receipt that I must scroll through every single rebate category to get to the product that I purchase.

Yes, I think we all get overwhelmed and burnt out from the rebate apps and now, let me step down from my podium.

It is so good to hear that I am not the only who cannot stand the new ibotta update. My husband has his ibotta on an ipad which automatically updates and has hated it. I refused to update mine after I saw his. I am going to hate the day they make me update. It seems like they made some really poor choices in rearranging everything. And it is a lot slower than it used to be. It seems to spin and spin and spin a lot more.

Also, I bought the Clairol at Rite Aid on the 13th and it still has not cleared. What a hassle.

I’m surprised to hear that. Maybe i’m crazy, but I actually like it. you scan the receipt and it automatically finds the available rebates and you no longer have to scan the item’s upc code (unless it doesn’t recognize it). I’ve gotten lucky with certain offers like the zico offer. many people had the system automatically pickup and credit both the $2.50 and the $3.50 when they only bought the small $1.69 bottle.

Most of the stores we shop at, that feature does not work for us. It only works at Walmart. So, while it is a nice feature, it has not been worth the hassle. Most of the features we use have become harder to get to and the picture taking is a lot slower.

totally agree with you,.. Loved ibotta ,, its just so slow and time consuming. Checkout 51 is good, but wish they had a search feature. And everytime you read a rebate and back out of it ,it take you to the very top again. errrr. guess its the price you pay to get free money
