1My friend, Maria, went to the Starbucks in Mission Valley (San Diego) to try to use the coupons.com Free Tall Caramel or Hazelnut Macchiato coupon and was told by the Barista that Starbucks had sent out a memo to the stores to not honor the coupons.com coupon b/c it was invalid.

I find it hard to believe that coupons.com is now putting FAKE coupons on their website.  I think that Starbucks had no idea that it was going to be an overwhelming response from the Couponing  Community and they decided not to honor the coupon.

Maria had a great idea that we should get on Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, etc) and let Starbucks know that we, consumers, are not happy that they not honoring the coupon!

Get on your Twitter and Facebook accounts and let’s let them know.

    I boycott them now same as I do Coke and Dole. I tried to use the free Blond coffee coupon and was treated extremely rudely by their counter person, so I left with nothing and will never go back. I find it hard to believe that pouring a cup of coffee is that difficult! When I posted about it on their facebook wall… their response was NONE. Same as with Coke… no response. And Dole did nothing as well.

    None of these companies will get a penny of my money ever again.

      I had a coupon for 50% off any espresso and they didn’t take it either same Starbucks. This time I decided to invest some time and call 1-800-Starbucks. I spoke with a nice costumer service representative who added a free reward to my card and apologize but couldn’t give me any more info about the coupons.com or 50% off coupon.

    I had the same problem when Best Buy had that mastercard promotion $50 off $100. My local Best Buy said Mastercard had changed their mind and only set one day to use the coupon instead of being valid for a week.

    I don’t put any stock in complaining on social media sites b/c the only ones who see it are the company employees who handle those sites specifically and I don’t think it’s likely they’re obligated to respond to or care about customer service issues. I’ve seen innumerable complaints on many companies’ Facebooks completely ignored or dismissed.

    I emailed Starbucks to complain about this and got a reply that included “Unfortunately, the offer is for Starbucks rewards members only and you would need to receive an email from us directly to take advantage of these coupons. ” No explanation or apology of this being offered on Coupons.com for everyone to print w/no restrictions mentioned.
    They’re also sending a coupon for a free drink, but I did use several ‘keywords’ in my complaint that probably got them to take it seriously (not honoring promotions, false advertising, etc.).

      Wow, I am so happy for you for getting a free drink coupon from Starbucks! Hmmmmmm, Starbucks says that they didn’t authorize coupons.com to put the coupon on their website but Starbucks did not request that they remove the coupon from their site. I find that very odd. I also find it odd that there’s no word from the folks at coupons.com about this Starbucks fiasco.

        If you check coupons.com facebook page and read the comments from readers they have made several comments regarding this whole ordeal. Like greenbean said though, Starbucks has not made any reply at all to comments on their facebook page. In response to my email all they had to say was, “In order to better assist you, would you be able to provide more information or give us a call at 800-782-7282? If calling, please have reference # 11096699 available.”

        Coupons.com had this to say on their facebook page, “Our site provides both manufacturer coupons and online coupon codes. We work directly with manufacturers to offer manufacturer coupons, which can be found on the “Coupons” tab on our site. All manufacturer coupons can be verified for authenticity with the Veri-FI codes printed on them at http://www.couponsinc.com/crc/index.asp. Our “Coupon Codes” tab features retailer coupon codes, deals and printable coupons. Our team works hard to find, verify and deliver the best deals to our site visitors from brand websites and elsewhere online.

        We spoke to the Starbucks customer service department on two occasions about this specific promotion. On 03/14/2013, we were informed that printable coupons would be accepted for this promotion at corporate Starbucks locations (not within another retailer store) so long as the discount code was shown on the coupons. Today, we were informed that the promotion rules were last updated on 3/15/2013, specifying that the promotion is not accepting printable coupons from third party sites. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your understanding.
