Vons/Albertsons: Two Stores Coming Together

I think we all knew that Albertons bought Vons a couple of years ago but I was looking at the Vons ad, and I see “Two Stores Coming Together” and ” Club Card Not Needed at Albertons Stores”.

I’m wondering what changes are they planning???  Are they going to change all of the Vons stores into Albertsons stores?  Then as I am looking to find out if there had been announcement that I’d missed, I find out that Albertsons bought Rite Aid, how did I miss this?

Lord, I know that I have been crazy busy with my job but I had no clue about Albertsons buying Rite Aid.  I guess, we will have to wait and see what happens with Albertsons, Vons and Rite Aid.

All along I’ve been getting two separate grocery store ads in the mail, one for Albertsons and one for Vons. Over the last couple of months, they’ve been getting more and more identical, with similar products and prices gracing the pages. So it was no surprise that when I got the ads on Tuesday, there was only one ad, with ‘Albertsons & Vons, We are proud to Announce Two Stores Coming Together to Better Serve You’ written across the top. They already closed quite a number of their stores over the last several years since their merger went through, but now one wonders if they’ll just continue under one of their names instead of two. And yes, the Albertsons-Rite Aid merger is currently in the works.

We use to have an Albertsons right down the street and then when they had the merger, they closed it down and it reopened as a Smart & Final. I haven’t gotten a Albertsons nor a Ralphs ad in ions after all this merger business. 🙁

Yep, here in La Habra (Orange County, CA), they stopped delivering Ralph’s ad approximately a year ago, no reason given. Since they closed both Ralph’s stores in la Habra, I only go once or twice a month to neighboring Brea. Or if I’m passing by, I’ll stop in and pick up an ad, which they have as soon as you walk through the door. I guess they’re saving money by not spending it on newsprint and postage. Yes, you can look it up online, but I just like having something to hold onto, mark up, fold, etc.!
